There’s more to phone boxes than phones, we’re transforming the traditional payphone into a service designed for the 21st century.

About Payphones and InLinkUK

Our red phone box has been a historic symbol of UK culture for over 80 years, and a part of the character of many streets and villages around the UK. The use of the phone box is evolving - you can buy one, local communities can adopt one, you can advertise on them and they can be converted to provide other useful community services, such as ATM machines.

Transforming the traditional payphone into a service designed for the 21st century, our new InLink units are helping to create connected communities with:

  • Free ultrafast, Wi-Fi
  • Free UK landline and mobile phone calls
  • Free rapid mobile charging
  • Free touchscreen tablet for internet access to maps, directions, the Phone Book and local services

Quick facts:

  • More than 4,500 red phone boxes have been adopted by local communities for £1.

  • The BT phone box has been a part of the UK's heritage for over 80 years.

  • More than 1,000 InLink units will be installed in major cities across the UK over the next few years.
